Winter 2025

From Executive Director, Chloe Collins:

Thank you for your ongoing support of Valley Eye Radio. We hope you all had a lovely Valentine's Day.

VER is looking for listener feedback as we work hard to produce and share content that you most want. If you are one of our listeners and you have an idea for original programming you would like to create or hear, we want to know!

Please take a moment and fill out our survey: Valley Eye Radio Listener Survey.

Both a print and online version are available, and the survey can be completed for someone by a caregiver, aide or family member.

VER is actively recruiting board members, with a strong need for those who are visually impaired. Would you like to help us shape our mission going forward? Email chloe@valleyeyeradio.org.

Now is a better time than ever to get involved with providing both entertainment and community for the visually impaired in the Pioneer Valley. We would not exist without your ongoing support. Thank you!

Valley Eye Radio continues to learn and grow from our listeners as we engage with the community. Recently, I met with a group from the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired to get more ideas for original content and programming.

A few weeks ago, VER toured Kind Hands Adult Day Care to connect individuals to the community by offering our specially tuned radios to anyone interested.

On March 14th, VER will be tabling at the Sheraton hotel in Springfield at an event hosted by the National Federation for the Blind. If you'd like to have VER come to your place of business or know of any individual or group who would be interested in our services, please let us know.

● Our friends at Baystate Health provided more expert information on a variety of topics and Valley Eye Radio was able to rebroadcast the audio from their latest presentations on Venous Insufficiency, Tinnitus Explained, Boosting Heart Health with the Power of Nutrition, Deciphering Nutrition Labels and Revolutionizing AFib Treatment with a look at the new Farapulse Technology.

● Valley Eye Radio has been out in our service area with presentations to the various low vision groups in the Pioneer Valley. We were able to register a number of new listeners and we’re always looking to get the word out about VER.

● Thanks to our collaboration with the Public Health Institute of Western Massachusetts, Valley Eye Radio was able to update our listeners on the latest issues related to MA’s New Gun Safety Law.

● Valley Eye Radio updated its afternoon program schedule at the start of the year to improve how a registered listener can hear the news and information most relevant to them. Every morning, we also broadcast a recorded list of our afternoon schedule for that day.

If you know of someone who is no longer able to read print material independently, please call Valley Eye Radio at (413) 747-7337 or contact us through our website www.valleyeyeradio.org to get more information about our free service or to register to become a listener.

Happy Birthday also to our valued volunteers who began another trip around the sun in December: Joe, Cynthia, Maureen A., Chris T., Wendy, Jody and Marie.

Happy Birthday to all of our active dedicated volunteer readers who felt the love from friends and family on their special day in January: Dave, Marilyn, Warren, Jim, Bob Z., Ken, Peter and Carol.

…and a rousing chorus of “Happy Birthday to You” to all of those in our volunteer reader family who enjoyed their cake and presents in February: Jeanne, Chris C., Jay, Bob K., Matt, Sharon and Barb.
