Fall 2024
It’s Giving Tuesday and VER Needs Your Help
I hope you had a safe and happy Thanksgiving last week. It’s Giving Tuesday on December 3rd and this year we could really use your help.
The sound and recording equipment we use every day for our free broadcasts of the day's news and feature programming to our listeners is limited and there's so much more that we could do.
Your donation today will help us get modern technology to offer even better services to our friends, family and neighbors who are blind or visually and print impaired.
What Your Donation Can Do
- $10 provides snacks and support for our dedicated in-studio volunteers <o:p></o:p>
- $25 helps sponsor technology training for our staff
- $100 supports acquiring higher quality broadcast equipment and needed software<o:p></o:p>
- $500 helps us get closer to upgrading our failing soundboard
Every gift, no matter the size, brings us closer to our goal of $20,000. Thank you for believing in our mission and being a part of the Valley Eye Radio family.
Will you join us in making this Giving Tuesday unforgettable?
You can donate now at www. valleyeyeradio.org/donate.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Chloe Collins
● Valley Eye Radio now rebroadcasts audio from the Westfield COA Presents series every Thursday afternoon at 2 pm for our visually and print impaired listeners.
These recordings present a wide variety of issues of general interest such as Bank Fraud, Elder Law, Healthy Foods, Nutrition, Veterans Affairs, Medicare and many more topics of importance to anyone living in the Pioneer Valley.
● Thanks to Transportation for Massachusetts, Valley Eye Radio was able to update our listeners on the latest issues related to transportation outside of Massachusetts.
Baystate Health gave VER listeners more information on topics such as Breast Cancer, Pulmonary Hypertension, Pulmonary Embolism and Nutritional Fat Facts.
The World Affairs Council of Western Mass provided our listeners with audio from presentations by journalist Charu Gupta on Hindu Nationalism and by Dr. Martha Hodes on her book My Hijacking: A Personal History of Forgetting and Remembering.
We’re so grateful for all of those who provide us with this programming.
Please have anyone you know who is visually or print impaired to call us at (413) 747-7337 or contact us through our website www.valleyeyeradio.org to get more information and to register to become a listener.
Happy Birthday also to our valued volunteers who began another trip around the sun in September: Tom K., Mary M., Dolly, Jeff, Harold, Eileen, Antonia, Bridget, Nicole, Jan and Karen.
Happy Birthday to all of our dedicated volunteer readers who felt the love from friends and family on their special day in October: Andrea, Deb O., Karen M., Steve R., Dan, Annie, Melinda and Maryellen.
…and a rousing chorus of “Happy Birthday to You” to all of those in our volunteer reader family who enjoyed their cake and presents in November: Linda, Heather, Laurel and Diane D.
